Comics Drawing
Learn basics and make your own comics
Saturdays, 9am-12pm | Ages 9-18
Our Comic Drawing Workshop offers students opportunities to learn foundational skills in storytelling, character design, and comic strip structuring. The workshop will be co-taught by our instructors, Jerry (remotely) and Kosuke (in-person). This workshop takes place in-person at Tappeto Volante in Brooklyn.
In this session, the workshop will focus on using comic symbols, like action lines, emotion icons, and visual sound effects, to enhance storytelling. Students will experiment with traditional and invented symbols to express actions, emotions, and atmosphere. This workshop encourages creative visual thinking within a structured framework, helping young artists learn how to communicate complex ideas clearly through simple images. By the end of the workshop, students will have completed a short comic strip that effectively uses symbols to tell their story.
