Six-Week Course
$240 per session (including Artuta Fun Pack)
March 5 - April 16, 2023
Artuta’s Spring Session is designed to teach the foundations of creativity in the visual arts and beyond for kids aged 7-9. Students will develop their imagination—and artistic practice—using a variety of materials, techniques and interdisciplinary approaches.
The 2023 Spring Session is all about color. Jerry, Kosuke, and Joan have cooked up a progressive set of classes aimed at developing your child's relationship with color. We experiment with a variety of media through unconventional projects, and as always, your child will be encouraged to "go beyond!"
Artuta’s student-centered teaching methodology fosters creativity, concentration and problem-solving. Each week, our instructors will demonstrate a new art making technique through step-by-step instruction, enabling young artists to immediately employ simple methods towards increasingly complex works. Through the use of examples and by working along with instructors, students will naturally become familiar with artistic concepts, materials and their own potential for creativity. All students are encouraged to adapt class concepts to their own ideas, interests, and personalities!
In the spirit of cultivating engagement and interactivity, class sizes remain small and are capped at five students. Our classes take place from 1-2pm Eastern Standard time, with students often sharing the virtual classroom with students from other time zones. Though most of our students come to us from the New York area, our students form relationships with children from across time zones and all over the world!
Artuta values the special learning that comes from sharing and collaboration. This is why our instructors build in time for presentation, discussion and reflection at the end of every class. During this time, students are encouraged to reflect on each other’s work, techniques and ideas which allows students to come away with not only an expanded skill set, but a deeper relationship with their own artistic practice.
